Coming soon to a high school or middle school near you, a new curriculum for teaching about music that will supposedly be free, published by Scholastic , endorsed by MENC , and written in part by the former Bruce Springsteen guitarist, Steven Van Zandt.

In many ways this project has some very good ideas within it.  The project is based on the premise that we teach band, chorus, and orchestra on a regular basis but we simply do not teach enough about our own American musical history. The new Little Steven's Rock and Roll High School curriculum will include new ways of teaching students about American music, the history behind it all, and of course a generous linkage to Rock and Roll in general.

In doing my research on the project I was unable to find an exact release date, although it appears that the new music education curriculum and resources will include CD's, DVD's, posters, and other classroom materials.
