The small, lightweight Tascam DR-07 digital audio recorder packs amazingly high quality sound and features into a deceptively small package.

Coming in at around $150 the Tascam DR-07 portable digital audio recorder is one of the lowest priced portable digital audio recorders available on the market. It packs a pair of very nice sounding microphones into the package, the only problem being the lack of a coincident pair arrangement to allow for better stereo recording quality.  The thing that was quite impressive about these microphones during testing is that they do not seem to pick up much background noise.  Even without any editing the DR-07 digital audio recorder produced very clean recordings with acceptable depth and clarity of sound.

Other nice features of this Tascam digital recorder include the addition of four recording channels, a feature not seen on any other of the reviewed portable audio recorders aside from the Zoom products.  The DR-07 comes with a decent 2GB SD memory card as well as a windscreen and included batteries.  Aside from these few accessories however the Tascam unit does not come with any other tools such as mic stands or power adapters that are seen on comparable models from other manufacturers.  Still, if a buyer is looking for a good overall value and does not mind the missing frills the Tascam DR-07 portable digital audio recorder is an excellent choice.
