If you have ever had a flute player that sounds great on the head joint alone but then loses it when he or she plays on the full instrument be sure to check the right hand position.  If a student does not keep their fingers arched properly they run the risk of accidentally pushing down the trill keys, opening a vent that will make the flute almost impossible to play.
