Professional development is important for a teacher, but it is even more important that that training be relevant.  Find a way to go to your state or regional band director's or music teachers conferences and go to sessions that appeal to you in your situation.  Use the knowledge obtained to "sharpen your axe," and make yourself a better teacher.
