For those music educators who would like to add a music notation component to an existing class but don’t want to have to pay thousands of dollars to buy site licenses for Finale or Sibelius take a closer look at the online music notation system called Noteflight.  For the next two months (until October 31st) you can have up to 250 students up and running with Noteflight Classroom for around $145 for the year.

The thing that makes the system nice is that it is not only a notation system but it is also a classroom management system that allows you to give out and take in assignments without having to deal with paper and pencil.  You give out the assignment via the teacher interface, the student completes the work online either during school or even at home via their own Internet connection, and then submits it to you for grading through the same system.  You can then pull up their assignment submissions from pretty much anywhere in the world.

Take a closer look over at the Noteflight web site and sign up before October 31st to get the special deal.
