With the new year has come some great new additions to the information being provided here at MusicEdMagic. I am very happy to announce several new writers who have offered to share their breadth of knowledge here on the site, helping to round out the content in areas that until now have been rather limited in how I could cover them.
First, I am pleased to welcome Matt Warnock, professor of guitar at Western Illinois University. Matt's duties include teaching Jazz and Classical applied lessons,
coaching the guitar ensembles and performing in the Hopper faculty
jazztet. He is also on faculty at the Interlochen Summer Arts Academy
where he teaches jazz guitar lessons, jazz improvisation, jazz rhythm
section seminar, the history of the jazz rhythm section and directs the
jazz guitar ensemble. He will be writing for us in the newly created Strings section of the site and posting on various guitar related topics. He also has his own blog space here at MusicEdMagic named The Guitar Corner.
Also coming to write for our site is a good friend of mine from the music education podcasting world, Larry Marra, author of the Music Teachers 911 podcast. Larry has moved his personal blog to MusicEdMagic and will be posting here on a regular basis as a compliment to his outstanding audio podcast offerings over at his own site, the home of his Music Teachers 911 Podcast. Also entering the lineup over the coming weeks will be Joshua Hunt, a doctoral student at the University of Illinois majoring in Jazz Studies. His specialty is in percussion and he will be providing us with some great and useful percussion education articles as well as even more information through his Drum Spot blog later on this month.
