Allouette - French Canadian Traditional Song
Free Sheet Music For The Traditional French Canadian Song "Alouette"
Alouette is a traditional French folk song about a little bird (a skylark) getting "plucked." It started out as a song sung by fur traders to pass the time and help speed up their productivity but in the years since has become a very common and popular folk tune. Most Engligh speaking children never realize that in essence they are singing a song that goes through the motions of telling a little bird that they are about to pluck out its eyes, head, tail, and other body parts. A full rough engligh translation is included farther down the page.
Please note that in the files included below the 1st parts are the main melody and the 2nd parts are the harmony. You can mix and match any two parts and they should sound good together. For any instruments not listed just pick one that fits your playing range and give it a try!
