The Beginning Band Hypertext Primer - By Henry E. Duitman, Ph.D.

• This primer is intended to help the new or experienced beginning band director prepare and organize their programs so that once school starts they are ready and have a solid plan for the school year.  It covers everything from trying out students on instruments to how to run the first important band rehearsals.  The suggestions continue all the way through the second semester of a typical school year.

• An article published in the Keynotes Magazine that details the experiences of a teacher starting a new beginning band program from scratch.  The article includes information about how the teacher ran her rehearsals and scheduled lessons.  It also touches on ways that she use students as leaders even at this early stage of development.
